Thirty five years ago, a school was born. Fast forward to 2019, bible character Daniel and his friends are set to perform at The Theater at Solaire on January 18, 2020.
Makati Hope Christian School is already preparing its Spring Concert coinciding the 35th anniversary of the school through songs, dances and an original musical titled My Man Dan.
Jaime Del Mundo, a world-renowned director, returns as the writer and director of the musical play.
Jazen Matthew Cordero will perform as the lead role Daniel while Kenneth Majestrado as his younger counterpart.
Daniel’s friends will be acted by Zach Anthony Ty, Jesriel, Emmanuel Nuñez and Johann Martinez while their younger counterparts will be Yuan So, Jin Caleb Espino.
King Nebuchadnezzar will be played by Trevor Ramirez while King Darius will be played by Halley Reyes. Faith Ongaria, Mary Grace Reyeg and Danaielle Haley Magtoto will act as the narrators and the mother and father will be played by Bettina Ordonez and Roswell Catamio.
According to Lyn Sena, musical director for the first part’s song and dance performances, preparation for the Spring Concert began since summer.
Sena shared that multiple songs were considered as performances, which were then trimmed down to seven songs.
These songs will be sung by selected students from grades 1 to 12.
“This year’s Spring Concert will provide better performances compared to previous occasions,” Sena said.
“The 2020 concert will give the audience a performance that will truly take their breaths away,” she added.
Sena also shared that students are now confident in performing on stage.
“Before, students are very shy when called on stage. But because of continuous trainings and encouragement, they have changed and their confidence has definitely boost.”
According to her, parents can see the growth in their child and that the Spring Concert will be a time to show their pride.
OSA Coordinator Jasmin Lim, who serves as the overall coordinator for the My Man Dan production, said that parents, students and the whole MHCS community can expect a world-class performance from selected students.
“I’ve always admired Daniel, how he was known as a man of integrity and how in the midst of the great challenges he had faced in his life, he never wavered, because He had faith that God is much greater. Through the years that I’ve been working here, I’ve seen the school have its share of great obstacles, but none compared to the triumphs that God has blessed us with. Looking forward, I am very excited to see the great things that God has in store for Makati Hope Christian School,” Lim said.
The 35th Anniversary Spring Concert will be co-presented by the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) headed by its president Atty. Ma. Frecelyn M. Haw.
MHCS was founded in 1985 with 25 preschool students and five teachers.
In 1997, it held its first Spring Concert.
The school continues to uphold its core values: harmony, excellence, integrity, resilience and stewardship in carrying out its goals and maintain its testimony as a Christian educational institution.
Parents are encouraged to join the Spring Concert by sponsoring the event. For more details, you may call at 8817-1111.
