Born from the school board’s commitment to providing quality Christian education across the Philippines, a new Makati Hope Christian School (MHCS) campus has been constructed in Mandaluyong City and officially opened on July 4.
This dedication bore fruit, with proof of that being the grand opening of the MHCS Ortigas campus, attended by the Ortigas campus faculty, school administration and Mandaluyong’s mayor and education officers.
Makati Hope President Sarah Wage emphasized that the new branch aims to continue the legacy of excellence established by the MHCS Makati campus, known for its students' outstanding academic and religious achievements.
“This institution, this building [and] this school will only be used for a special purpose, and that is to glorify God,” School Chaplain Pastor Christian Banzuelo affirmed.
Ortigas Campus School Head Teresa Lopez shared similar sentiments, highlighting that her campus is committed to cultivating the "unique stories of success" of its future students.
“Education is the best equalizer in life. It is a sure and guaranteed pass that the poorest man with [a] proper education could stand on par with the richest and most influential people,” Mandaluyong City Mayor Benjamin Abalos Sr. underscored.
What began as a dream two years ago for the Board of Directors has now become a reality. However, the path to success was ridden with difficulties, requiring the team's hard work and dedication for the Ortigas campus to begin operations last March.
“The journey was not easy. We faced challenges, setbacks, and moments of doubt. But through it all, we held on to the promise found in Proverbs 23:18. It says, ‘Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off,’” Wage emphasized.
Located on the ground floor of St. Francis Square in Ortigas, Mandaluyong City, the new campus accommodates preschool to senior high school students, featuring new classrooms and modern facilities such as a play area, library/robotics room, science laboratories for physics, chemistry, and biology, a computer laboratory and a home economics room.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Crispin Mejica, Senior Education Program Specialist of the Schools Division Office of Mandaluyong; Ma. Delma Abringe, Planning Officer of the Schools Division Office of Mandaluyong; Enrico “Rocco” Nacino, an actor and alumnus of MHCS; Teresa P. Lopez, School Head of MHCS Ortigas; Dr. Marivic L. Daguio, Principal of MHCS Makati and Consultant of MHCS Ortigas; Benjamin Abalos Sr., Mandaluyong City Mayor; Luke C. Roxas, MHCS School Board Chairman; Michael Aldrich Wage, School Board Trustee; Sarah Roxas-Wage, MHCS President; Mary R. Chua, School Board Trustee and Hannah Roxas, School Board Trustee.
The establishment of Makati Hope Christian School Ortigas, Thanksgiving, and Dedication Day was spotlighted on the front cover of the prominent local publication, the Philippine Star.
