Gloria, Yap accept TOSM 2019 Awards

Updated: Nov 2

Two students of Makati Hope Christian School secured awards in the recently concluded Ten Outstanding Students of Makati (TOSM) 2019.

Ythan Sean O. Gloria and Carl Gabriel C. Yap, both Grade 10 Amaziah students, received the awards for the said occasion.

TOSM is a project of the City Government of Makati that recognizes students who value their God-given knowledge and leadership potential by striving to excel in their studies.

Gloria and Yap went through a rigorous selection process which includes an academic excellence test, documentary evaluation, panel interview and a talent presentation to determine the 10 awardees.

“Bear in mind that while we aim to instill the values of hard work, determination and focus in your academic achievements, we always enjoin you to explore, discover and hone your innate skills and talents. More than anything, we want you to pursue your passions and make your ideas and dreams come to life,” Mayor Mar-Len Abigail Binay said.

The awardees were accompanied by their parents, MHCS Principal Marivic L. Daguio, Academic Head Teresa P. Lopez, OSA Coordinator Jasmin Lim, English Coordinator Sarah Christine Barros and Math trainors Robert Ongaria and Mervin Bueno.

Gloria has joined local and international competitions varying from public speaking, oratorical speeches, Mathematics, Science and Robotics where he garnered recognitions. “Never stop dreaming, never give up, never stop trying and never stop learning,” he said.

Yap is a consistent honor student and has gained awards in different competitions, particularly in Mathematics. Last July 7-8, 2018, he bagged a silver medal in the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge.

Both students received a plaque, a certificate, a medal and cash prize during the awarding ceremony.
