Twenty one medals were garnered by the Makati Hope Christian School Debate Team in the World Scholars’ Cup Round 2 held at Southville International Schools and Colleges, July 14-15, 2019.
The team was composed of nine contingents from the Grades 8-12 levels.
Patrick Gabriel Lo (Grade 12), Ythan Sean Gloria (Grade 11) and Elisha Rael Ordonez (Grade 11) won gold medals in the senior team category of the Collaborative Writing Contest.
Grade 10 students Eunso Im, Jose Mari Gabriel Tumanan and Coby Tan were conferred silver medals in the senior team category of the Debate Contest.
The Grades 8 and 9 students’ group composed of Laurence Manuel, Jasmine Kimberly Ngo and John Ethan Chiuten garnered silver medals in the senior team category of the Scholars’ Challenge.
Individual awards were also conferred to the contingents with Im garnering two gold medals for the Top Scholar’s Award and Collaborative Writing; Lo received a gold medal for the Collaborative Writing Contest.
Receiving silver medals were Gloria, Ordonez, Lo, Tumanan, Tan, Chiuten, Ngo and Manuel for the individual categories of the Collaborative Writing, Scholars’ Challenge – Science Category, Debate and Da Vinci Awards.
Faculty members and consulting coaches include Ms. Sarah Christine Barros, Ms. Mary Jane Ortaleza, Mr. Eduardo Lim, Jr., Mr. Joseph Gayares and Mr. PJ Foronda-Tanglao.
World Scholars’ Cup is an international franchise that hosts scholastic events in different parts of the world and aims to push for youth empowerment through harnessing academic talents of students.
