Bagging four awards, Candle Pen proved its growing passion in delivering quality campus journalism in the recently concluded Division Schools Press Conference.
Patrick Gabriel Lo, the editor-in-chief, was able to snatch a 9th place in the news writing English category.
Kobe Andre Ho and Jose Mari Gabriel Tumanan, the managing editor and the research associate, respectively, received a silver and bronze medals for editorial writing English and column writing English.
Capturing the best shot, Hannah Moriah L. Tayzon, the chief photographer, secured the gold medal in Photojournalism English.
Other journalists who represented Makati Hope Christian School were Bea Chin (copyreading and headline writing), Matthew Gabriel Chiu Lo (editorial cartooning), Eunso Im, Marc Bryan Ong, Jose Gabriel Orros, Elisha Rael Ordonez, Jasmine Kimberly Ngo, Faith Angeline Ongaria and Naomi Yu (collaborative desktop publishing).
Lo, Ho and Tayzon will compete in the regional level this October.
This is the first time that the Candle Pen joined the said competition where thousand campus journalists from different schools in Makati City registered.
