Campus Writers Etch 6 Awards In Online DSPC

Despite conducting competitions in the new normal method of learning posed challenges, Candle Pen has again proved itself and bagged six awards in the Division Schools Press Conference held last June 29-30, 2021.


Eunso Im, the editor-in-chief for social media, secured first place in the Copyreading and Headline Writing English category.


This is the first time that the school has joined and won in this category.


Jasmine Kimberly Ngo, the editor-in-chief for publications, gained third place in the News Writing English category.


Former editor-in-chief Patrick Lo has also joined in this category and even qualified to the national level.


Jazlyn Grace Ong, Pearle Ashley Tan, and Faith Angeline Ongaria, the editor-in-chief for radio, photographer, and writer, were awarded fifth place in the English categories of Editorial Writing, Photojournalism, and Science Writing, respectively.


Former managing editor Kobe Ho has previously joined the Editorial Writing while former photographer Hannah Tan won in Photojournalism in the last year’s editon of DSPC and both even qualified to the regional level.


This is the first time that Candle Pen joined in the Science Writing category.


Mikaela Alyn Motol, the news editor, was ranked 10th place in the Feature Writing English category.


The campus journalists were trained by their moderator John Laurence Guzman.
