Amidst the gusty winds and torrential rains, the students of MHCS still banded together despite all hardships to show their love for Filipino language and culture. Originally scheduled for the 31st of August, the program for Clusters 1 and 2 were unfortunately postponed to September 4 due to inclement weather.
Nevertheless, the High School program still proceeded as usual, and after the anthem, a word of prayer and opening message, the entertainment finally began. Zach Ty of 12 Revelation took the role of gamemaster and led the students in Filipino trivia, riddles and tongue twisters. The high school students energetically participated in the games to show off their Filipino skills and to impress their peers.
Next came the presentations of the Grade 7 students, with their dance performances of Filipino songs, then the Grade 8 with their creative interpretations on Filipino literature and followed by the Grade 9 students' singing prowess.
During the intermission, Ms. Jeanette Corsega was called on to deliver a riveting special number while teachers walked onto the stage wearing their best Filipino outfits. All the teachers looked stunning in their finest clothing and garments as the students loudly cheered and clapped when their favorite teachers presented themselves onstage.
After the interlude, it was now the turn of the Grade 10 students to give a dance performance that integrated the traditional and the modern aspects of Filipino culture. However, the audience truly went wild when the teachers and senior high school students took the stage for a spectacular contemporary dance performance. Students and teachers alike yelled in delight at the passionate and energetic show taking place.
On the following Monday, Clusters 1 and 2 followed a similar routine, and after that more fun-filled activities were held, with the Cluster 1 students fighting viciously for a chance at winning prizes. The Grade 2 students were able to showcase their talents in dancing while the Grade 3 students did creative reading. Mrs. Len Franco provided the special number while other teachers showed off their best garments for everyone to see.
After a brief lunch break, it was time for the Cluster 2 program. Once again, the same opening routine was held, and the students were just as excited for the games as always. The Grade 4 students immediately spun into action with classic Filipino folk dances, followed by the Grade 5 students who gave a lively performance, and the Grade 6 who delivered emotional readings of Filipino fables. As for the special number, the students were incredibly loud in their cheering for Ms. Irene Pudot and Mr. Ronnal Bugas, to the point that their song was almost inaudible over the noise.
At the end of each of the individual programs, the Filipino coordinator Ginang Lanie Lyn Legaspi awarded prizes to three teachers from each cluster that had the best Filipino attire. Ms. Maru, Mr. JM and Ms. Jeanette were the third, second and first place winners respectively for Cluster 3. For Cluster 1, Ms. Leah obtained third, Ms. Patricia came in second and Ms. Brixie was first. Lastly, for Cluster 2, Ms. Jessy, Ms. Angel and Ms. Charisma received third, second and first place respectively.
