A Good Book to Read in Christmas

Even with the advancement of technology and everyone choosing to go online, there is still something that remains relevant in the 21st century, and that is a book. What a better time to read one during the Christmas season, especially if it’s a book by Haruki Murukami, specifically one of his best works, Norwegian Wood.

Apart from the name of the book being a song from The Beatles, this book is actually not as cheerful and happy as the songs they make.

The story centers around Watanabe and his interactions with the people he meets during his time in college and how the death of his bestfriend back in high school has affected him and his other dear friend Naoko.

The book can get pretty heavy at times but it’s a great book that talks about depression and how these characters cope with it.

The book is set around the winter season in Japan, a time that should be happy but ended up so sad.

It teaches us that even in times of suffering or loneliness, we would always have people to look upon and inspire us.

I would strongly recommend for people to read this book over the holidays. It’s something that can be considered a short book, but with how the story was told, it felt as if I was really observing the life of someone for a long time.

It really made me realize how blessed I am to have family and friends support me when I am feeling down, just like how Watanabe had people to support him in his times of troubles. That’s why I’ll say it again: you must read this book; you won’t regret it.
